Discover Traditional Korean Beef Soup

When you visit a cozy spot like the one located at 22929 Hwy 99, Edmonds, WA 98026, you'll find that they serve a true gem of Korean cuisine: Traditional Korean Beef Soup. This dish is a rich, comforting experience that’s perfect for anyone looking to explore authentic flavors that speak to both history and home-cooked goodness. Known for its hearty warmth and bold flavor, the soup is a staple in Korean homes, and here, it’s served with a level of expertise and care that will make you feel right at home.

The first thing you’ll notice when the Traditional Korean Beef Soup arrives at your table is the inviting aroma. The broth, simmered for hours to extract all the deep flavors from the beef bones, is clear yet full-bodied, creating a satisfying warmth that fills the room. This soup, often known as "Galbitang" or "Yukgaejang," is traditionally made with tender cuts of beef, often short ribs, which are boiled for an extended period to release every bit of flavor. The result is a rich, savory broth that's not too heavy but deeply comforting.

What sets this soup apart is the balance of flavors. The beef is tender, practically melting in your mouth, while the broth carries the essence of sesame oil and garlic. It's seasoned with a light touch of soy sauce, which brings out the natural sweetness of the beef, yet doesn’t overwhelm the palate. The addition of green onions, a few slices of radish, and sometimes even a sprinkle of chili flakes, adds just the right amount of freshness and spice.

This soup is not just about taste; it’s about the experience. With every sip, you're not just enjoying a meal; you’re diving into a tradition that's been perfected over centuries. The restaurant does a fantastic job of capturing the authenticity of Korean cooking, using traditional methods passed down through generations, ensuring that each bowl is a reflection of the rich culinary heritage.

The Traditional Korean Beef Soup is often paired with a side of steamed white rice, which acts as the perfect neutral base, allowing the complex flavors of the soup to truly shine. This combination makes for a well-rounded meal that leaves you feeling nourished and content, without being overly full. If you're unfamiliar with Korean cuisine, this dish is an excellent introduction to its essence: a harmonious balance of flavors, textures, and traditions.

In addition to the soup, the menu also features a variety of other traditional Korean dishes that complement the rich flavors of the beef soup. From spicy kimchi to tender bulgogi and crispy pajeon (Korean pancakes), every dish is crafted with care and attention to detail. You can pair your soup with any of these sides to enhance your meal, but the beef soup stands as the undisputed star of the show.

A key element of enjoying a bowl of Traditional Korean Beef Soup is the communal experience. In Korea, meals are often shared with family and friends, and this restaurant embraces that spirit. Whether you’re dining alone or with a group, the experience is one that invites you to slow down and savor every bite. It’s not just about the food; it’s about creating memories over a shared table.

Customer reviews often praise the authenticity and heartiness of the soup, noting that the flavor is reminiscent of a home-cooked Korean meal. The atmosphere of the restaurant reflects this sentiment-welcoming and warm, making it a perfect spot for both newcomers and those familiar with Korean cuisine.

With a location in Edmonds, WA, this restaurant brings the soul of Korean cooking to the Pacific Northwest. It’s an excellent choice for those looking to try something different, offering an authentic taste of Korea right in the heart of Washington. • This is a great, small hole in the wall restaurant for traditional Korean soups and dishes. Besides the signature Bone Broth soup (your choice of meats), they also have bibimbap and, best of all, handmade pork and chive dumplings! The banchan (kimchi and ggakdeuggi) are fresh. The staff are nice but can get busy when full, so have some patience. Bonus: free barley tea.

  • This is the place if you want to enjoy authentic Seolleongtang, the Korean ox bone soup in the area North of Seattle. The place is mostly frequented by Korean people which is always a good sign. We had of course the Seollongtang, and also Yukgaejang another traditional Korean stew and it was delicious, just what we needed on a cold day in February. It comes with purple rice, fermented daikon and kimchi as a side, which are pretty good, too. Salt and pepper are at the table so you can adjust your Seolleongtang to your taste. Ask to get some sweet mocha from the machine in the store, it's a delicious treat after the meal.

  • We tried this restaurant for its Korean traditional soups, and while the flavors were good and authentic, they didn’t quite align with our personal taste preferences. The bibimbap was decent but nothing extraordinary. If you’re a fan of Korean soups, it might be worth trying, but it wasn’t the right fit for us overall.

  • Love the authentic Korean food, service and atmosphere there!! How many Korean restaurant out there dare to serve their beef soup without seasoning it? Unless they are extremely confident about their quality of food, just like Traditional Beef Soup Restaurant!!! You get to decide how much salt you want to put into your soup, trust me, if you don’t put enough salt, you might think the soup is bland and the flavor won’t be there! It’s important to put enough salt to bring the truth taste to another level!! We ordered the steamed homemade dumplings and that’s delicious as well. Not to mention their homemade ban chan (Kimchee)!! The bomb !!! fresh and crunchy with a kick of spicy!! I have to buy two small size container ban chan home and yes, even my Korean boyfriend said that’s legit ban chan! I saw someone’s post about this restaurant, that person gave 2 stars only and mentioning about the dishes that she ordered has a lot of msg, I don’t really feel bad for her as obviously she didn’t order what this restaurant is known for! Duh, traditional beef soup!! She also mentioned about only two side dishes, to me, that is a authentic Korean beef soup restaurant and I don’t think they should have ten different side dishes…that just going to mess up your taste bug! I do want to make a disclaimer though, I am just a regular customer and not bias about anyone or anything! I am just a big foodie! 2/24/2024, Come back again for their Seolleong Tang with my boyfriend’s sister and niece. Saturday late lunch after 1:00pm, not crowded at all, as soon as we walk in, got seated right away! We ordered three Seolleong Tang with flank meat, mixed meat and tongue, steamed mundo and rice cake and dumpling soup. It’s my bf’s sister and niece first time trying this restaurant and they loved the food! The soup has great flavor, eat it with their Kim chee and radish ban Chan helps enhance the flavor to a different level. I would love to ask everyone who has not try yet to give it a try! You will find it very satisfying! Especially during rainy stormy day!! To owner and his family, please keep up the excellent job and I will be back soon!!
